Ad restrictions loom for gambling sector

David Clifton is quoted in the lead news article for the August 2018 edition of iGaming Times entitled “Ad restrictions loom for gambling sector” that can also be downloaded below.

David’s comments contained in the article were given prior to the Gambling Commission’s announcement on 1 August that, with effect from 31 October 2018, changes to its Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice will mean that gambling operators breaching advertising rules will face tougher enforcement action.

Nevertheless, that announcement serves to confirm David’s forecast that “the UK would be more likely to introduce “incremental changes” than Italy’s recent wholesale ban on all forms of gambling advertising, marketing, promotions and sponsorship (with effect from 1 January 2019), on which David commented in his Licensing Expert article for SBC News last month.
