“Collaboration” – the name of the game

In this month’s Licensing Expert article for SBC News, David Clifton focuses on those parts of last month’s UK Government review of gaming machines and social responsibility measures on which lesser publicity was given than to the headline-grabbing decision by the UK Government to reduce the maximum stake on B2 gaming machines (FOBTs) from £100 to £2.

The other proposals, to which David refers in his article (that can be downloaded below) have fairly fundamental bearing insofar as the whole gambling industry is concerned. They include the following:

  • steps intended by Government to “drive action” across online gambling,
  • gambling advertising,
  • problem gambling research, education and treatment (RET) and the public health agenda with regard to gambling.

David explains that it’s not all bad news but, for reasons that he makes clear in the article, concludes that “collaboration” is now the name of the game.
