Lotteries – DCMS call for evidence

DCMS is suggesting that the characteristics that once made The National Lottery, society lotteries and the commercial gambling sector distinct, are now less clear, particularly in light of the rapid developments recently seen in the society lottery and commercial gambling sector. It states that “the Government is committed to ensuring that all lotteries are able to maintain and grow their share of the market for good causes while upholding player protection. We are also committed to maintaining the health of the National Lottery. We are now calling for evidence to help us look more closely at the current position and consider if changes are required in light of that evidence”. It has invited submissions by 4 March 2015 from The National Lottery, society lotteries, commercial operators, players and other interested parties. The DCMS “Call for Evidence” document and “Market advice on the lottery sectors” published by the Gambling Commission can be downloaded here.
