Suzanne Davies obtains new licence in Cambridge’s cumulative impact zone

We have been delighted to assist clients in obtaining their first premises licence under the Licensing Act 2003 for an exciting new concept – the Soboro Bakery – full details of which can be found on its website.

The licence was granted notwithstanding that the location of the premises in the Lion Yard Shopping Centre in Cambridge is within the city centre’s cumulative impact zone (“CIZ”), meaning that an applicant for a new licence has to overcome the “rebuttable presumption” that any application that is likely to add to the existing cumulative impact will normally be refused (or granted subject to limitations) unless it can be demonstrated to the Licensing Committee that there will be no negative cumulative impact on the licensing objectives. Further information on CIZs can be found here and, more recently here.

The Soboro Bakery provides a particularly innovative offering to its customers, based as it is on the fine traditions of Japanese and Korean bakery. Its vision is to create the freshest, authentic, handmade Japanese and Korean bakery products.

We wish the Soboro Bakery every success and urge you to pay it a visit as and when you are in Cambridge. Its opening hours are: Monday to Wednesday 7am to 8pm, Thursday to Saturday 7am to 9pm and Sunday 8.30am to 6pm.
