Betting operators have been advised by the Gambling Commission to ensure that their bonus promotions are fair and transparent for consumers.
The Commission has published a public statement in which TGP Europe Ltd and Fesuge Ltd accept a number of failings relating to a Cheltenham Festival bonus offer, arising principally from the fact that their terms and conditions did not provide a clear definition of “bonus abuse”.
Other licensed betting operators are being encouraged by the Commission to read details of the findings in the public statement (that can be downloaded below) which highlight the importance of:
- ensuring that terms and conditions of bonus promotions are fair and that consumers can easily understand those terms, and
- acting quickly when evidence of consumer detriment is identified, especially in response to complaints.
