Gambling Act Review must allow much-needed modernisation for Britain’s land-based casinos

David Clifton is quoted in a Vixio Gambling Compliance article entitled ‘Palacegate Casino Teeters As London’s Top Casinos Lay Low’. That article (which is available solely to Vixio subscribers) reports that warnings have been given to staff of the Palacegate Casino in London that “they will not be paid and the property may not reopen again until the business completes a financial restructuring”.

Arising from that news, David comments within the article that:

…. the devastating impact of the pandemic on this sector adds weight to pleas from operators that the government’s current Review of the Gambling Act 2005 must introduce much-needed modernisation for land-based casinos, including permitting higher stake and prize machines in the capital’s high-end casinos to enable them to properly compete on the global stage.
