The Gambling Commission has announced that with from 1 November 2019 – in line with its drive to move its services online (that it says will make it “more aligned with other organisations”) – it will:
- no longer accept hard or emailed copies of applications that can be made online and
- return to the applicant any hard copy or emailed applications received by it that can be made online.
The Commission explains that it is doing this to “improve standards relating to safety and security of applications and supporting information, improve turnaround times for applications and enable our employees to focus on decision-making”.
UPDATE: As reported here, the Gambling Commission subsequently issued an update stating as follows:
In September we informed you that from 1 November 2019 we will no longer accept hard or emailed copies of applications that can be made online.
We have decided to delay implementation until Spring 2020 and will keep you informed of timescales nearer the time.
