The Gambling Commission has today (10 June 2021) announced the appointment of Andrew Rhodes as its Interim Chief Executive following the sudden resignation of Neil McArthur in March this year.

The Gambling Commission Board decided at that time to recruit for an interim CEO in order to allow the successor to current Chairman Bill Moyes, whose term of office ends later this year, to appoint a permanent Chief Executive. Since McArthur’s resignation, Deputy Chief Executive Sarah Gardner and Chief Operating Officer Sally Jones have shared the role of Acting Chief Executive.

Gambling Commission appoints Andrew Rhodes as Interim Chief Executive

The Gambling Commission has announced the appointment of Andrew Rhodes as its new Interim Chief Executive.

Today’s announcement follows a thorough search and highly competitive process to recruit the role.

With over 20 years of private and public sector experience, Andrew will join the Gambling Commission later this month to take up the post for an 18-month period.

Andrew joins the Commission from Swansea University where he was Registrar and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to his role in higher education, Andrew has held senior roles at a range of organisations including Department for Work and Pensions, Food Standards Agency and the DVLA.

Andrew Rhodes said:
